FAQS ABOUT MULCH
HOW MUCH MULCH DO I NEED?
A yard of mulch will cover approximately 100 square feet at 3 inches deep. Refer to our mulch calculator to calculate the yardage you will need, or give us a call and we will calculate it for you!
HOW MANY YARDS OF MULCH WILL MY TRUCK HOLD?
We can load your pickup truck or trailer by the cubic yard. A standard sized pickup truck bed can accommodate two cubic yards. A small pickup truck bed can accommodate one cubic yard.
HOW MANY BAGS OF MULCH EQUALS ONE YARD?
Many stores sell mulch in two cubic foot bags. One yard is 27 cubic feet; one yard is equal to 13 1/2 bags.
HOW DEEP SHOULD I SPREAD THE MULCH?
We recommend 2-3 inches deep to help cut down on weeds. Rake or "fluff" mulch and replenish periodically so that it stays 2-3 inches deep.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DYED MULCH AND NATURAL HARDWOOD OR PINE BARK?
Natural Hardwood or Pine Bark Mulch is ground bark from the outer part of the tree. There is no wood mixed in it, and it is not dyed. Dyed Mulch is a wood mulch that we grind and color red, black or brown.
IS YOUR MULCH TREATED WITH ANYTHING?
Our mulches are not treated with any chemicals. Our dyed mulches are colored with a non-toxic water-soluble dye. When you get your dyed mulch home, spread it as soon as possible and avoid watering for 24 hours to let the color set. Never spread it in the rain.
WHAT TYPE OF MULCH SHOULD I USE?
The type of mulch you use depends on your application. Dyed mulch may enhance the look of your landscape. All types will reduce water loss from the soil, improve soil quality and reduce weed growth.
